Because the authors take you to places that you may only imagine their books are known to bring excitement to everyday life by slipping into an imaginary world. Fictional books open new levels of discussion by using engaging, imaginative, fun to read books even more fun to discuss. Fascinating characters that you can identify with and can care deeply about are one aspect that draws clubs to choose works of fiction. Story lines can also be so intense that you must finish the book as soon as possible to see the outcome.
Discussing fiction books allows for each member to provide their unique perspective which can bring exciting and fun discussions as each member shares their views, takes and interpretations on what happened within the book. Your reading group can experience thought-provoking discussions as each member is allowed to share their experience and reactions to reading the selection.
While fiction books are the typical choice, you may find that choosing a nonfiction book may provide a book club experience that is equally enjoyable and intellectually challenging.
